10 TV Characters I Want to Date

With Valentine's Day here once again, I have been trying to distract myself from the impending doom that comes with being single. You know, everyone around me getting roses and chocolates and romantic dinners, while I sit home alone in my Christmas PJs watching Golden Girls and eating an entire tub of birthday cake ice cream.

Last year, I did a post for Early Mama about the sexy Pacey Witter and our imaginary love affair. So I thought, why stop there? I can think of plenty of television characters who I secretly hope will become Mr. Emily Lingenfelser.

In no particular order...

Lance Sweets, Bones

Lance Sweets is the cute, analytic psychologist from the show Bones, and his boyish looks and charm melt my heart. (If you've seen the show, you know what I'm taking about.) Lance is the type of guy I'd be proud to introduce as "my man."

Doug Funnie, Doug

Doug Funnie may be animated and really young (apparently the show starts with him being 11 years old — who knew?), but I always had a secret crush on him. His green vest, khaki shorts, and bright-red blushing when it comes to girls. Swoon.

Cory Matthews, Boy Meets World

Let's be honest: Cory Matthews is the definition of a perfect boyfriend. I am a sucker for guys with curly hair, but it goes so much further than looks. As you watch him blossom from immature boy to heart-melting man on Boy Meets World, you can't help but fall in love with him. (AND he's coming back for the spin-off, Girl Meets World!)

Lucas Scott, One Tree Hill

I was/am obsessed with One Tree Hill, but I lost interest after Lucas Scott left the show. He had his flaws (remember that Brooke/Peyton love triangle?) and drama-queen moments, but when it all boiled down, Lucas was a good guy. A jock with a big brain and an even bigger heart. What more could a girl ask for?

Matty McKibbin, Awkward

Matty McKibben. Look at that body.....Er— what was I saying? Right; well Matty is gorgeous, that's obvious. But he's also incredibly sweet, funny, and sensitive. Definitely the whole package. #TeamMatty

Seth Cohen, The O.C.

Seth Cohen is still the love of my life. He was the nerdy, quirky guy who managed to win over a girl considered out of his league. And as a stated before, I'm a sucker for a guy with brown curly hair (see Mr. Matthews). But add a sense of humor with epic nerdiness, and you have the man of my dreams.

Ezra Fitz, Pretty Little Liar

We all dream about having a steamy love affair with our high school English teacher, right? Right?! I certainly wish I had a teacher like Mr. Fitz when I was in high school. He's gorgeous and brilliant and — okay, maybe part of the attraction subsided since I'm now 23 and it wouldn't be forbidden love. But still, I definitely would love to play teacher with Mr. Fitz. (Ow, ow!)

David "Gordo" Gordon, Lizzie McGuire

Gordo from Lizzie McGuire was probably my first crush. In middle school, Lizzie McGuire/Hilary Duff was my idol, so it just seemed natural to have a 'thang for Gordo. He was not necessarily the most good-looking character, but he was so loyal and sweet that I never noticed. You can bet I would bring that boy out of the Friend Zone.

Pacey Witter, Dawson's Creek

Oh, Pacey Witter. You and your ugly shirts have always held a place dear in my heart. You are a misunderstood bad boy with the biggest heart. While Dawson was ugly-crying in nearly every episode (seriously, Dawson, you're the worst), you had real problems. And when you cried, I just wanted to be there for you.

Matt Saracen, Friday Night Lights

If you haven't seen the show Friday Night Lights, you are missing out. The guys on that show are so drool-worthy it was hard to pick out just one to put on my list. (Coach Taylor was a close runner-up.) Matt is the youngest football player who steps up and becomes a fantastic man. He takes care of his Godmother, works for everything he gets, and is an artist on top of it. Not to mention he's easy on the eyes. Matt is the kind of man I hope to snag one of these days.

Honorable MENtions:

Nick Miller, New Girl

George Tucker, Hart of Dixie

Marshall Eriken, How I Met Your Mother

Coach Taylor, Friday Night Lights

Danny Castellano, The Mindy Project

Jim Halpert, The Office
